Artificial Intelligence Literacy Program
College of DuPage is introducing a new internal Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy program designed to support faculty, staff, students and community members in understanding and engaging with AI in thoughtful, practical and responsible ways. Developed in partnership with Intel, the program establishes a shared foundation of knowledge as AI continues to shape higher education, the workplace and daily life.

Build your AI knowledge anytime, anywhere with our free, self-paced online courses. Designed to fit your schedule, these on-demand learning opportunities allow you to explore artificial intelligence at your own pace.
Participants are encouraged to discover how AI can support COD, enhance student success and strengthen our community. Courses are accessible to everyone, regardless of role, department or experience level, making them an excellent starting point for faculty, staff and administrators alike.
Upon successful completion of each course, participants will earn a digital badge to recognize their achievement and growing AI knowledge.
Responsibility with AI is paramount. The 45-minute Introduction to Responsible AI Skills couse covers the basic ethical considerations of AI, where participants will:
- Familiarize yourself with the concept of Responsible AI
- Understand the benefits and risks of using AI
- Learn the principles of Responsible AI
Introduction to Generative AI is a 45-minute course that provides the very basics of Generative AI, where you will:
- Learn about the evolution of AI & demystify AI buzzwords
- Learn about the concept of Generative AI
- Learn how to design effective prompts
- Understand the advantages and challenges of Generative AI
- Identify popular Generative AI applications and tools
AI for Citizens is a self-paced awareness program designed for anyone curious about the world of AI — whether you're a student, a homemaker, a working professional or a senior citizen.
The program is organized into three modules, each offering valuable insights into artificial intelligence:
- AI Aware
- AI Adapt
- AI Appreciate
As you progress through each module, you'll earn a badge once your understanding is demonstrated. We recommend setting aside at least 20 minutes to complete a section in one sitting. If a section doesn't show a completed check in the menu, your progress on it won't be saved.
The 30-minute AI for Accessibility course combines foundational knowledge, real-world examples and guided reflections to help you understand both the importance and impact of accessibility in today’s digital world.
In this course, you will:
- Understand what accessibility means and why it matters
- Explore the intersection of AI and inclusion, and how AI can address accessibility challenges
- Learn about the direct and indirect benefits of accessibility with business case insights
- Recognize global standards like the UNCRPD and WCAG guidelines
- Examine ethical principles for designing responsible AI
- Reflect on key takeaways and how to apply them in your own work or community
All lessons will need to be reviewed and completed before the final reflection activity.
Digital Trust for All encourages learners to think critically about where and when to apply trust in a digital environment. After this course you will:
- Gain confidence and trust to engage in Digital Activities
- Develop ownership to expand your own Digital Activities safely and responsibly
- Advocate for others about pursuing Digital Activities safely and responsibly

Gemini is a conversational AI assistant that can help you brainstorm, explain concepts,
generate ideas, summarize information and more. Think of it as an AI tool similar
to ChatGPT or Claude, with access provided through COD.
Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM)
Have a lot of information to sort through? Gemini Notebook works with the sources
you provide, such as documents and other course materials, to help you organize information,
understand concepts, explore connections and brainstorm ideas based on your materials.

at notebook.google.com. The COD Information Technology Knowledge Base for Gemini and Gemini Notebook is also available.
Your COD Google AI account keeps your information secure and does not use your data
