Build, Design and Transfer

College of DuPage offers Associate in Engineering Science (AES) degrees that align with the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Whether your goal is civil, mechanical, electrical or computer engineering, COD gives you a strong foundation and a more affordable place to start.

Engineering at COD isn’t just theory. You’ll apply what you learn through real-world, project-based coursework designed to mirror the engineering profession.

  • Engineering Graphics: Students design and build a working catapult each semester, combining creativity, physics and problem-solving.
  • Statics: Put theory into action by competing to design and build bridges that are tested for strength and efficiency.
  • Introduction to Digital Systems: Electrical and computer engineering students design and build projects such as games, security systems, stopwatches, calculators and even computers. Projects are showcased to the local community at the Digital Systems Design Project Showcase each semester.
  • Microcontrollers: Design a fully autonomous smart car capable of navigating a maze or following a track—just like real-world engineering challenges.

Transfer With Confidence

COD has established transfer agreements with many colleges and universities, making it easier to transfer credits smoothly and save on tuition. Many engineering students transfer to:

  • University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • University of Illinois at Chicago
  • Illinois Institute of Technology
  • Northern Illinois University

Courses are also accepted by many additional institutions both in and outside of Illinois.

Articulation Agreements

Beyond articulation agreements and guaranteed admission programs, College of DuPage courses transfer to many other institutions.
