Chaps Sweep Competition at Finger Lakes Tournament
By Evan Harvey

The No. 1 ranked COD men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to 14 when they traveled to Canandaigua, New York, for the Finger Lakes Tournament on March 27–28, competing against other top-five NJCAA programs and several teams they've already defeated this season.
Against Nassau, the current No. 2-ranked team in the NJCAA poll, DuPage earned a 3-0 sweep (26-24, 26-24, 25-17). It marked the second time the Chaps defeated Nassau after a 3-1 victory on Feb. 1.
Adam Janowiak (15 kills) and Danny Overlin (14 kills) led the DuPage attack. Max McDermott directed the offense with 29 assists, while Adam Sanchez delivered three service aces.
Defensively, Nicholas Ockrim recorded 17 digs, with McDermott adding 11. Janowiak contributed two solo blocks, and Sanchez added three solo blocks.
In the following match, the Chaps took on No. 3-ranked Finger Lakes and completed another 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-22, 25-22).
Janowiak (10 kills) and Overlin (9 kills) again paced the offense as DuPage posted an impressive .417 team hitting percentage. McDermott piloted the attack with 22 assists, while Ockrim anchored the defense with 13 digs. Janowiak and Sanchez each added a solo block.
On day two of the Finger Lakes Invite, the Chaps battled Monroe University in their second matchup of the season after sweeping the Mustangs on Jan. 30. DuPage produced a similar result, again sweeping Monroe (25-20, 25-20, 26-16).
The consistent duo of Janowiak and Overlin led the attack, combining for 21 kills. McDermott added 25 assists, continuing to lead the passing game. Coady Seidler provided pressure from the service line, while Sanchez added four aces. Overlin and Ockrim combined for 15 digs to lead the defense. Sanchez and Matthew Pemberton each tallied a solo block.
In the final match of the tournament, DuPage turned its attention to Monroe University Bronx, another common opponent the Chaps swept earlier this season on Jan. 30. DuPage completed the perfect trip with a dominant 3-0 win (25-17, 25-14, 25-13).
Overlin and Janowiak again paced the offense, combining for 23 kills. McDermott impressed with 33 assists, while Overlin added two service aces. Janowiak recorded 10 digs, and Sanchez was a force at the net with five block assists.
DuPage went a perfect 12-0 in sets at the Finger Lakes Tournament. The Chaparrals have now won 14 straight contests, tying a program record set last season. DuPage has also defeated NJCAA top-five competition in seven matches this season, building momentum at a crucial point in the year.
Head coach Tolis Koskinaris commented following the successful East Coast trip: "Our team held together on a tough road trip, shorthanded, and really performed at a high level. Joey Seebauer and Max Sobus came up clutch for us and helped us stay on top. Quiet week with only one match on Thursday, sophomore night against Judson. And then the big regional championship at home on Wednesday, April 8, versus Bryant & Stratton."
DuPage will host Judson University on April 2 at 6 p.m. The Chaps' sophomores will be recognized pregame as part of Sophomore Night.
