Exploring the Future of AI, Work and Education at Inaugural AI Summit

College of DuPage welcomed students, educators, business leaders and community members for its AI Literacy Summit, a first-of-its-kind event for a community college in the Midwest focused on the opportunities, challenges and future impact of artificial intelligence.
Participants in the summit included (from left) Intel Director of Strategic Initiatives David Minnar; Lenovo Chief Technology and Innovation Strategist Hernán Londoño; COD Associate Vice President and Co-Chair of the AI Governance Committee Dr. Sonia Watson; COD President Dr. Muddassir Siddiqi; and Steven Wightkin, Rush University Program Director of Operations, Faculty and Students, College of Health Sciences.
Featuring opening remarks from OpenAI's James Hairston and thought-provoking discussions led by experts from higher education, technology and industry, the summit explored how AI is reshaping education, transforming the workforce and influencing the way people learn, create and solve problems.
Through keynote remarks, panel discussions and conversations with attendees, the summit encouraged participants to think critically about how AI can be used with purpose, judgment and accountability.
Hosted by College of DuPage, the AI Literacy Summit reflects the College's commitment to preparing students, employees and community members for success in an evolving technological landscape.
COD recently began offering an Associate in Applied Science degree in Artificial Intelligence, a 60- to 62-credit-hour program that prepares students to design, build and evaluate AI systems.
