Building Housing Stability Together

COD and DuPagePads share a long-standing partnership focused on serving the community, from supporting housing-insecure students to collaborating through COD Cares and areas such as the Honors Program.

Field Study Class Gets Up-Close Experience With Bats

Students enrolled in COD's Biology of Bats class watched a colony of big brown bats come to life, soaring around a gazebo in Hammel Woods. The class tracked the bats using thermal and infrared cameras, as well as a bat detector that converted the bats' echolocation calls into an audible frequency. Students also learned about bat diversity, natural history, behavior, echolocation and conservation.

Students Train with First Responders in Mass Casualty Incident Drill

Students recently joined first responders from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District for a realistic Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Drill at the Homeland Security Education Center. Through triage, patient care, communication and teamwork, students gained hands-on emergency medical training and valuable real-world experience. The drill helps prepare future healthcare professionals and first responders to respond effectively during disasters, mass casualty events and other critical incidents.
