COD classrooms are equipped to support consistent and reliable instruction across campus. Faculty are strongly encouraged to visit their assigned classroom before the semester begins to check and test any equipment they plan to use during the semester.

Most standard campus classrooms include:

  • Instructor lectern with a control interface for room technology
  • Instructor computer (Windows, Apple)
  • Laptop connectivity (Wireless, HDMI, USB-C; VGA where still supported)
  • Ceiling or wall-mounted projector or flat-panel display
  • Audio system with in-room speakers
  • Document camera

Additional Classroom Equipment

Additional classroom equipment and technology-enhanced learning spaces are available throughout campus to support in-person, remote and hybrid instruction, helping faculty create engaging and flexible classroom experiences.

AV equipment across COD supports instructional delivery through projection, sound reinforcement and content display. While specific equipment varies by building, COD routinely provides:

  • Projector or large-format display
  • Audio amplification system
  • Instructor microphone (varies by room size and use case)
  • Control system for managing inputs, audio, and display
  • Assistive listening systems in select classrooms

Lecture capture capabilities vary by space and may include:

  • Instructor computer with software-based recording options
  • Camera and microphone integration in select rooms
  • Ability to record screen content and audio
  • Recordings can be used for asynchronous viewing depending on instructor preference and room setup

Designated HyFlex and video conferencing classrooms are equipped to support both in-person and remote participants.

Capabilities may include:

  •  Integrated video conferencing system (e.g., Teams/Zoom)
  • Ceiling or wall-mounted cameras
  • Microphone systems designed for instructor and/or student pickup
  • Display(s) for remote participants and shared content
  • Support for live instruction, recording, and remote collaboration

(Exact capabilities depend on the specific room configuration.)

Most classrooms are scheduled by the Central Scheduling Office. Descriptions and schedules of these rooms can be found online. If there’s a problem with your scheduled room, you should work with your department administrative assistant in charge of submitting room requests. One of the best ways to prepare for your class is to visit the room ahead of time and test any media devices that you may need.
